We've always felt that one day was not enough to celebrate reading at Pray-Woodman School in Maize, KS. Each year, we start off the new year, in January with a "Read Across America" contest featuring classroom cars racing across America by earning SRC reading points. The finale of the contest on Dr. Seuss's birthday, March 2nd is a party for the winning class in each grade level. Ice cream and cake are provided by our local Maize Education Association. A visit from the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 as well as a story read by USD 266 Superintendent of Schools, Doug Powers, were highlights of this year's celebration.
